Sparsha 2015

Touch Lives & Spread Smiles at Infant Jesus Children’s Home
SPARSHA is the annual outreach programme organized by the Social Service Club of the PU College. SPARSHA provides an opportunity for students to reach out and TOUCH the less privileged and less fortunate of the society so that they too can SMILE like us with joy. Through SPARSHA, students spread the Christmas cheer to those whom this feast would be like any other normal day.

The students were encouraged to SPARE a part of their pocket money and SHARE it for raising funds to show their CARE for the inmates of Infant Jesus Children’s Home who are affected with HIV. The response of the students to this appeal was overwhelming. The staff too joined in the task of raising funds. Contributions started to pour in.

On 12th December 2015, 60 volunteers and 10 staff visited the children at Infant Jesus Home. We hosted a cultural programme to entertain the children. The children were given a double dose of happiness through the games that were organized for them. The children in response were inspired to showcase their talents before us through song and dance. They then clapped and sang along as the Christmas carols were sung. But the ultimate screams of happiness and excitement were heard when Santa Claus arrived amidst them distributing chocolates, gifts and snacks to each of them. Their voices, filled with happiness, echoed the spirit of hope & joy of Christmas. It also gave us, the true satisfaction that the objective of SPARSHA – Touch lives & Spread smiles was fulfilled.

The programme ended with each of us exchanging Christmas & New Year greetings. Some of us bid farewell with moistened eyes but all experienced a feeling of contentment that SPARSHA was successful.
