Teachers Day Celebration (Institutional Level)

‘Teachers Day’ is celebrated every year in India on 5 September 2016. The birthday of our second President Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan is commemorated as ‘Teachers Day’. It is celebrated to pay tribute to the dedicated teachers for their best contributions to the society and country.

This year, the staff level ‘Teachers Day’ celebration was hosted by the High School under the guidance of Principal Rev Fr Gerald Furtado.

Our Rector Rev Fr Leo Pereira was the chief guest. The heads of St. Joseph’s Indian Institutions, along with the staff members were present in the auditorium. The programme started around 11.45am with prayer, conducted by Miss Manjula. Mrs Sujatha and Mrs Nola D’Lema compered the programme in Hindi and English respectively. The significance of ‘Teachers Day’ was beautifully presented by Mr. Trueman Cardoza. The groovy performance of High School teachers for the Fusion Dance was awesome.

The showstoppers were our own Alumni Jeevan Lewis - the comedian and Kiran – the singer. Jeevan Lewis had harboured dreams of becoming a comedian right from his school days. We laughed our hearts content at his acting and the dialogues. Kiran sang in his melodious voice and mesmerized us.

‘The Rector Message’ was meaningful and to the point.

Mrs Janet proposed the ‘Vote of Thanks’. The celebrations concluded with sumptuous luncheon.
