Feast of St Ignatius of Loyola (Students Celebration)

On July 27th at 1.15pm we celebrated the feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola. For us, Ignatian educators, this celebration is not only a reason for joy but also an invitation to recognize our source of inspiration. The Chief Guest, a Josephite himself Rev. Fr. Bala Francis, the assistant Parish Priest of St. Patrick’s Church, spoke on the significance of the feast day and the importance of studying in a Jesuit Institution. Our own accomplished alumnus, Mr. Clifford Periera, the director of TV 9 as a Guest of Honour, gave a call to the young Josephites to make a difference in their lives and the lives of others setting himself as an example. Both advised the students to excel in everything they do and not to be satisfied with minimum. The twinning partnership logo was released highlighting the motto ‘We Share We Care’ between St. Joseph’s Indian Institutions and Loyola Institution, Vijayapura. We learn the best practices of each other, have cultural exchange and share our value system. The twinning programme has been a great success story. The Rector Rev. Fr. Leo Pereira delivered an inspiring message and the Headmaster Rev. Fr. Henry Saldanha appreciated the staff’s efforts in organizing the programme. A spectacular Cultural programme was arranged. It was in fact a valedictory of Prerana 2018 too. The dance, music and songs were on Ignatian themes like care for environment and excellence that conveyed the message of Ignatian Values. The celebration truly marked the enthusiasm and commitment of school management, the staff and students. The entire programme was telecast in TV 9 and many other channels. The spirituality of St. Ignatius calls us to seek God’s love through our service.
