Hostel Facilities


St. Joseph’s Community College has facilities for hostel in the campus. Hostel facilities are provided for both ladies and gents separately. There is accommodation facility for 50 ladies and 30 gents. More about the hostel facilities could be read under the hostel page.

Residential facilities are provided for the out station students at St. Joseph’s Community College (SJCC) hostels. There are two separate blocks, one for the LADIES named as NAVASPOORTI and the other for GENTS named as NAVACHETANA. The hotels are well managed by various personnel. The Director of Community College is the overall administrator of both the hostels. There is an Assistant Director for the hostels who takes care of most of the daily administrative matters of the hostels besides being full in charge for gents hostel. There is a lady warden for ladies hostel who takes care of the girls and accompanies them. Hostel food is prepared by a cook who is dearly called aunty by all.

The new ladies hostel Navaspoorthi is built this year in order to accommodate an increasing number of girl students across the various programmes. A two-storied building provides accommodation facility for 50 ladies. There is a separate study hall with modern study chairs, a spacious dormitory with two tier cot system and individual cabins to keep ones belonging, a beautiful recreation cum T.V room, a dressing room and a health care room, sufficient toilet and bathroom facilities. There is solar powered hot water facility installed in the rest room. There is a reverse osmosis system installed for the drinking water purpose.

The gents hostel Navachetana has accommodation facility for 30 gents. There is separate study hall with modern study chairs, and individual cabins to keep their belonging, a recreation room to play indoor games, a specious dormitory with two tier cots. There is a good toilet and bathroom facility with solar powered hot water system. There is a reverse osmosis system installed for the drinking water.

At present there is common dining hall and a modular kitchen. The kitchen administration has been offering very good service to the students. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food is served. The food is hygienic and delicious. The food is served throughout the day, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:40 p.m. There is mid day meal facility offered to the college students.

Since the hostels are in the college campus certain facilities of the campus are also available for the students such as basket ball courts, volley ball courts, badminton courts and swimming pool, foot ball and hockey grounds.
